Local currency is the jordanian dinar (JOD). There are bills of 1, 5, 10, 20 and 50JOD. The dinar is divided into 100 piastres 1000 fils. Exchange rate and fixed rate Exchange rates are determined daily by the Jordanian Central Bank. In practice, the rate of USD is fixed, or 1 JOD = 0709 USD. Exchange facilities Exchange facilities are available at all points of entry, banks, hotels, and currency exchange offices. Rates are displayed and you may wish to ask for a receipt. There are no restrictions on visitors to bring in, and take out, foreign currencies. Credit cards and Traveller Cheques are accepted at most hotels, car rental agencies, shops and restaurants. Major cards accepted are Master Card, Visa, Eurocard, AMEX and Diners Club.
